Swiss provider pCloud offers reliable data protection. This is complemented by secure AES-256 and TLS/SSL encryption. For data centers, pCloud offers certifications according to ISO 27001 for IT security and ISO 9001 for quality management. Client-side encryption is also available with the pCloud Encryption add-on. Thanks to user-friendly interfaces, the storage service offers teamwork and collaboration opportunities through shared data access. Private users can use pCloud to store large media files and access services like the pCloud web player, cloud music lists and cloud streaming. Be it offloading large files, regular backups or synchronizing with many devices, pCloud is a powerful alternative to OneDrive.

Cost: pCloud’s free plan offers up to 10 GB. You can get 500 GB for $49.99 per year, and 2 TB for $99.99 per year. Its lifetime offer is pretty unique. SecureCloud

The cloud service SecureCloud offers reliable AES-256 end-to-end encryption and data centers with ISO certification. Your data is encrypted before upload and transmitted via SSL/TLS. This OneDrive alternative is particularly suitable for business customers. Companies can benefit from integrated web office applications, efficient team collaboration features, centrally stored and device-independent data, as well as rights and role management.

Cost: There is no free plan. SecureCloud offers private customers 10 GB for around $2.70 per month, 100 GB from around $9 per month, and up to 1,000 GB for around $55 per month. For business customers, plans start at just over $4 per month for 50 GB per user (from 2 users). There’s also the Advanced plan with 100 GB per user (from 10 users) for around $8.50 per month. The Enterprise plan offers even more storage.

SecureCloud does not offer a free plan. The Business plan provides 50 GB per user for teams of at least two people for around $4 per month per user, while the Advanced plan offers 100 GB per user for teams of at least ten people for around $8 per month per user. Google Drive

Besides OneDrive, Google Drive is one of the most successful cloud services. The big advantage is that it includes Gmail, Docs, Spreadsheets, Forms and Contacts. All you need to access the storage service is a Google account that’s connected to Drive. Backups can be made effortlessly and automatically, and data or emails can be synchronized across devices. Third-party apps can also be used with Drive, and data can be shared and edited centrally and in real time. Google servers offer reliable data security, AES-256 encryption, and spam and malware protection. Data is stored on U.S. servers.

Cost: Google Drive offers 15 GB for free for all users with a Google account. Paid Google One plans provide 100 GB for $1.99 per month or 2 TB for $9.99 per month. For $19.99 per month, you get 2 TB of cloud storage along with access to Google’s AI Gemini Advanced. (Updated February 2025).

iCloud

The cloud storage iCloud is the standard for Apple users with an Apple ID but can also be used by Windows users with the desktop app iCloud for Windows. Thanks to the Apple software package, Apple services such as the word processor Pages or the spreadsheet calculator Numbers are also available without installation.

Cost: iCloud offers 5 GB of free cloud storage. For more storage, as well as premium features like your own email address and domain, and iCloud Private Relay, you’ll need to upgrade to iCloud+. With this, you’ll get 50 GB for just $0.99 per month, 200 GB for $2.99 per month, 2 TB for $9.99 per month and even up to 12 TB for $59.99 per month. (Updated February 2025).

leitzcloud by vBoxx

The German cloud service leitzcloud by vBoxx is known for its high data protection standards with data centers in Germany, reliable encryption for uploads and downloads, unlimited uploads and real-time synchronization and online editing. The service is especially suited for team projects and professional use. Company and customer data is backed up in a GDPR-compliant way, and company structures can be recreated via the cloud. Approvals, permissions and cloud management are carried out via a user-friendly dashboard, which provides reports on processes and storage consumption.

Cost: leitzcloud by vBoxx can be used by individual users from $15 per month ($13 with annual payment) with 250 GB including the full range of features.
