What is an OV SSL certificate?

An OV SSL Certificate, short for Organization Validation SSL Certificate, is the name for one of three SSL validation levels.

SSL certificates provide more security while surfing. They add encryption to data transmission and verify the domain. . Before issuing a certificate, a certification authority performs a check of various data. In the case of OV certificates, in addition to the domain, the identity of its owner or the organization behind the website – name, address and so on – is also checked. Once verification is complete, the Secure Site OV SSL certificate displays a lock in the browser address bar, confirming to users that the website is trustworthy. The acquisition of an Organization Validation (OV) SSL is therefore very important.

OV SSL - FAQ

Which SSL certificate is suitable for your purposes depends on the nature of your website and your desired level of security. For private use and smaller projects, a DV SSL certificate is more than sufficient. However, if your scope is larger or more complex, then you should consider an advanced certificate type, i.e. OV SSL or EV SSL. Both certificates guarantee a high level of security, but the EV variant is even better, as it provides you with a browser address line where the green color indicates the highest level of protection. Besides, your company name will be displayed to users, stipulating the seriousness of your website.

The verification process for issuing an OV SSL certificate usually takes a few business days. The rule is: the more effort that has to be put into verifying your data, the longer it will take to install your desired certificate on your website.
