If you want to use an existing SSL certificate with a different domain, you can reassign the certificate in IONOS. Here's how:

Please note:

  • SSL Starter Certificates can be assigned to another domain at any time.
  • SSL Starter Wildcard Certificates (GeoTrust Quick###SSL_PREMIUM### Wildcard) can only be assigned to another domain every 30 days - and no earlier than 30 days after your initial setup.
  • SSL Business Certificates (GeoTrust TrueBusinessID) cannot be assigned to another domain.
Step 1

Log in to IONOS and select the relevant contract.

Step 2

In the Domains pane, click Manage SSL Certificates.

step 3

Click on the desired SSL certificate.

Step 4

In the Advanced Settings section, click Reassign SSL Certificate.

Step 5

Select the domain or subdomain to which you want to assign the SSL Certificate and click Reassign SSL Certificate.

A confirmation message with further information on the domain assignment process will then be displayed.

Step 6

Click OK to return to the SSL Certificate Overview.

The SSL certificate is now set up again. You can check the setup status at any time in the SSL certificate overview.
