In rare cases, internal error messages may appear when accessing the IONOS Cloud Panel. Most temporary errors can be resolved simply by refreshing the page (reloading) or waiting a short while.

However, if the specific error messages "P100" or "Precondition Failed, Please contact support" appear, the cause is usually a network issue relating to your internet connection or your service provider. In this article, you will learn about the causes of these messages and how to regain access to your Cloud Panel quickly.

Error: P100 – Precondition Failed

In Cloud Panel, an error window or a status code labelled P100 or Precondition Failed is displayed.

Cause

This error message occurs when the Cloud Panel is accessed simultaneously or in rapid succession from two different IP addresses. In this case, the network connection constantly switches back and forth between two public IP addresses (known as ‘IP flapping’). For security reasons, the Cloud Panel terminates the session in this case.

Common causes of this are:

  • Carrier-Grade NAT (CGN / CGNAT): Some mobile network operators (e.g. on 4G/5G networks) and some fixed-line providers use CGN technologies. In this scenario, many customers share a pool of just a few IP addresses. The outgoing IP address may change dynamically during an active session.
  • Simultaneous logins: Accessing the same IONOS account from different devices or locations with different IP addresses.
  • Dynamic switching between Wi-Fi and mobile networks: The device automatically switches between two active network connections.
Solution
  • Stabilize the connection: Ensure that your device is using a stable internet connection and is not switching back and forth between Wi-Fi and the mobile network.

  • Avoid simultaneous logins: Check whether you or anyone else is logged into the same IONOS account at the same time from a different location.

  • Use a static IP address or a VPN: If your mobile or internet provider uses CGNAT, using a VPN with a static IP address can prevent IP flapping. Alternatively, switch to a fixed-line connection without dynamic IP changes.

Error: Precondition Failed, Please contact support (blank page)

When the Cloud Panel is opened, a plain white page displaying the message Precondition Failed, Please contact support appears instead of the user interface.

Cause

This specific message appears if the public IP address you are using is flagged as suspicious or potentially harmful in global security and abuse databases (such as AbuseIPDB).

Many internet service providers use shared IP addresses (shared IPs), for example with fiber optic, satellite internet, mobile, or VPN services. As a result, an IP address may be blocked due to the behavior of other users on the same subnet.

Solution

Quick fix (immediate action)

Change your IP address: Temporarily connect your device to a different network (e.g. via your smartphone’s Wi-Fi hotspot). This will immediately restore your access to the Cloud Panel.

Restart your router: If you use an internet connection with a dynamic IP address, briefly unplug your router from the mains and restart it. Your internet service provider will usually assign you a new IP address afterwards.

Permanent solution

  • Check your IP address: You can check your current public IP address on websites such as AbuseIPDB to see if your IP is listed.

  • Contact your internet service provider (ISP) or VPN provider: Inform your internet or VPN provider that your assigned IP address is listed on abuse lists, and ask them to assign you a new IP address or to have the entry removed.
