Continuing the Domain Transfer with IONOS

You have successfully prepared your domain and can now continue the domain transfer on IONOS's end.

This article will show you how to prepare your Network Solutions domain for a transfer to IONOS by disabling the transfer lock and the private registration option.

We will then show you how to access your authorization code from Network Solutions. You will need this code later to approve (authorize) the domain transfer on IONOS's end.

Requirements

Certain domains (.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .mobi, .asia, .cc, .tv, etc.) must be registered under your name for at least 60 days before they can be transferred to a different provider.

Disabling the Domain Transfer Lock and Acquiring the Authorization Code with Network Solutions

For your protection, generic top-level domains (e.g. .com, .net, or .org) have a domain transfer lock activated by default.

Before you start the domain transfer, you must disable this domain transfer lock.

Once you have disabled the domain transfer lock for your domain, you can have your authorization code (also known as an EPP Code) from Network Solutions emailed to you.

You will need this authorization code later to approve (authorize) the domain transfer on IONOS's end.

  • Log in to your Network Solutions Account Manager.
  • Under the My Products and Services tab, select My Domain Names.
  • If you have more than 1 domain, click Manage next to the desired domain. Otherwise, skip to the next step.
  • In the Details section under the Transfer Lock row, click Turn Off or Request Authorization Code.
  • A new page will open. Click Continue Transfer.
  • Check the box to acknowledge that you accept the terms. Then, click Request Authorization Code.
  • A new page will open. Select the option Leave Domain Transfer Lock Off and check the box Request Authorization Code.
  • Once completed, click Save.

Disabling Private Registration with Network Solutions

If you are using private registration for your domain, you must disable it before you start the domain transfer.

  • Log in to your Network Solutions Account Manager.
  • Under the My Products and Services tab, select My Domain Names.
  • If you have more than 1 domain, click Manage next to the desired domain. Otherwise, skip to the next step.
  • In the Details section under the Registration - Private Registration Status row, click Turn Private Registration Off.
  • Select the option Turn Private Registration Off and click Go.
