CIRA, the Canadian Internet Registration Authority, does not allow private registrations for .ca domains registered to businesses/non-individuals. However, private registration is automatically applied for individuals. When you register a .ca domain name as an individual, your private data will not be visible in the public WHOIS database. This default setting is known as WHOIS-opt-out and is used to protect you from spammers and various online scams. You can find additional information from CIRA here.
If you want your private data to be listed in the public WHOIS database, simply follow the steps below.
- Log in to your IONOS account.
Click on the Domains & SSL tile.
- Click the gear icon in the Actions column to the right of the desired domain and select Privacy & Contact Details.
- Click the Edit Reg-C link in the Registration Contact (Reg-C) section.
- Make sure the box for WHOIS Opt Out (Do not publish this information to the WHOIS database) is unchecked near the bottom of the form.
- Finally, click Save.
