Valid for IONOS OpenClaw Hosting.
OpenClaw (previous names: Clawdbot, Moltbot) is an autonomous AI agent that can perform various tasks independently. This Help Center article explains how to install IONOS OpenClaw on an IONOS VPS. The VPS acts as a sandbox and isolates AI processes from your private devices. This means that local hardware and data remain completely protected.
Notes
OpenClaw is not pre-installed on your VPS. The installation is described below.
At least one AI model API key, e.g. from OpenAI (ChatGPT) or Google (Gemini), is required to use OpenClaw.
Security information on OpenClaw
OpenClaw is an AI agent that performs actions independently on your behalf and, for example, installs programs, uses communication tools (chat apps), and accesses files. In order for these and other tasks to be executed, OpenClaw must be granted permissions.
Please note that an attacker can potentially exploit vulnerabilities and security gaps in OpenClaw, and thus gain the associated permissions and access to services and programs.
For this reason, always keep OpenClaw up to date and keep, yourself informed about current threats and security methods.
