To help you get the most out of the VPS, we have provided some useful information below.

When you choose a VPS, you can use it for both personal and professional purposes. Typical use cases are the following:

  • Web server

  • LAMP stack

  • Mail server

  • Shop server

  • Development Server

  • Test server

  • Code repository for your projects

In addition, you can use your VPS to host, for example, websites with a medium visitor flow, CRM systems, ERP systems, blogs, forums, or wikis.

Operating Systems and Applications

You can choose from a range of Windows and Linux operating systems to create the operating environment required for your desired application or software. Optionally, you can install the Plesk ONYX management software to easily and securely administer your server.

Alternatively, Nextcloud and other professional cloud apps from various categories such as CMS, e-commerce, and e-learning are available and can be installed with a single click. Cloud Apps are pre-configured and easy to install application packages. These application packages also include the necessary infrastructure you need to run the respective applications. Each IONOS cloud app is optimized for the most common application scenarios and is available in the latest software version. All you need is a VPS M. You use a VPS S? Then simply upgrade.

Flexible Administration and Use

You can manage your VPS through the Cloud Panel. In the Cloud Panel, you can start and shut down your server among other things.

With root access, you have full control over your VPS. You can install applications on the server as needed and configure your server individually.

If the purpose of your server changes, you can install a different operating system or your own server image.

If necessary, you can upgrade to a more powerful VPS at any time.

Security

Your server is protected by an external firewall that can be configured in the Cloud Panel. By default, a firewall policy is configured according to the requirements of the installed image. In addition, you have the option to add your own rules to the existing firewall policies or create your own firewall policies.

With a monitoring policy, you can monitor your servers in the Cloud Panel and create rules on which events you want to be notified. The status of your server is displayed in the Cloud Panel in the server details or in the Monitoring Center. Optionally, you can have notifications sent to you by email.

Getting Started

You can find the login details in the Cloud Panel with the detailed information of your server. You can access your server via the KVM console or via SSH (Linux) or Remote Desktop (Windows).

How to connect to the server and link your domain to the server is explained in the following article: VPS: Getting Started
