Creating a Hosting Plan in Plesk Onyx (First Login in Plesk Onyx)

You need a hosting plan to host a domain on a server with Plesk Onyx. This hosting plan defines which hosting resources and services will be provided. You can set up a hosting plan in Plesk Onyx as follows:


You have already ordered a domain in the IONOS Control Panel under Manage Domains > Domains > Order Domain.

The desired domain has already been set up.

You have entered the IP address of your server in the IONOS Control Panel under Manage Domains > Domains > Edit DNS Settings > A/AAA Entries and CNAME Records > Other IP Addresses (also applies for Managed Cloud Hosting).

You have not logged in to Plesk yet.

You have activated port 8443 in the firewall policy that is assigned to the server.

You have logged in to your Cloud Panel.

You are in the Infrastructure > Servers section.


Step 1

Activate the desired server.

Step 2

Scroll to the Plesk section.

Step 3

Write down the login data.

Step 4

Click the URL displayed next to Admin area.

The message This is not a secure connection appears.

Step 5

Click Advanced.

Step 6

Click Go to YOUR IP ADDRESS (insecure).

Step 7

Log in to Plesk as an administrator.

The Administrator Information form is displayed.

Step 8

Enter your contact details.

Step 9

Read and accept the license terms.

Step 10

Click OK.

Activate the desired type of use in the View Selector section.

Step 12

Activate the Service Provider view in the Select your interface* section.

Click OK.

In the left navigation bar, click Service Plans.

On the Hosting Plans tab, click Add a Plan.

On the Resources tab, specify which hosting resources will be provided with a plan.

Define which services and permissions will be provided on the Permissions tab.

On the Hosting Parameters tab, specify the parameters of the hosting service that is to be provided with the plan.

Step 19

Define the PHP settings for individual subscriptions on the PHP Settings tab.

Please note: The PHP settings are particularly important because they affect the function of a large number of web applications.

Step 20

Enter the Apache web server settings for the hosting plan on the Web Server tab. If Apache is executed with NGINX as the front-end server, enter the required NGINX settings as well.

Step 21

Define the parameters for the email service on the Mail tab.

Step 22

Enter the parameters for the DNS service on the DNS tab.

Step 23

Specify the maximum bandwidth consumption and the maximum number of connections allowed on the Performance tab.

Step 24

On the Logs & Statistics tab, specify how the statistics and logs for the plan's subscriptions should be saved.

Step 25

On the Applications tab, select which applications will be provided with the plan.

Step 26

Click OK.

The hosting plan has now been set up.
